Jennie Brink is my grandmother. After James Layland died, she married Alva Purdy. They had 2 children, Lucille and William. She passed in 1910. Alva Purdy died in 1914 with tuberculosis and is buried in Toledo, OH. Jennie (Jannie) is buried in the same grave as James Layland at Big Run Cemetary in Layland, OH
Jennie Brink is mentioned in her father’s (Jedidiah Brink) will, written in October 1914, so I assumed she died after that date. Is there another Jennie?
Hello Vera Marie! I just came upon the name Penelope Stout a few days ago–an email from Family Search came, with her “story” & other interesting info…and I discovered you, also! 🙂 I am an Ancestry user…hardly ever look at Family Search, although my husband has an account…he is not the researcher however, I am.
Penelope Stout is indicated as his 8th great grandmother–how interesting and exciting!
He has another “great grandmother” that was quite the pioneer woman…the wife of Moses Lambeth–she carried her injured husband (newborn in arms) on horseback, during the Revolutionary War. (I think her name was Polly, but I haven’t looked at this in long time. I believe they were from, & are buried at New Bern, NC.
I have not joined DAR, although I have ancestors who fought in the Rev War, & my husband has also & could join SAR, if he was so inclined. We probably wouldn’t be involved other than “just membership”, so I doubt we’ll look further.
Just thought I’d drop you a note–you sound like a really neat lady. I will check out the DNA on ancestry. My tree is under Jenna Dippel Lambeth, which I guess my DNA is also–I haven’t been very geni-motivated lately! Nice to meet you!
Thank you, Jenna. yes, there are some wonderful stories just waiting for usi n our genealogy!
